Day Twenty-One – In my arms

Gently in my arms
rocking to and fro,
a little body shakes his head
not knowing where to go.

This petite little being
so fragile and light,
unbeknown to you
you are my minute delight.

Sleep little angel
you have much to learn
quivering your lips
will only make you yearn.

For your mother your father
and your sister too,
are wishing you dreams
that are sweet with so very much to do.

You grow heavy in my arms
a cherub in his home,
it is only a matter of time
before you again can roam.

The eyelids softly close
the wishes now begin,
a little hand slowly unfurls
and in your crib you lie in.
